What you can expect to do here:
  • Provide legal support for the negotiation, drafting, and interpretation of contracts within the Properties and Buildings business line.
  • Advise project teams throughout the project lifecycle with timely and practical legal guidance.
  • Offer legal assistance to internal clients and stakeholders on a broad range of issues impacting the business.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with stakeholders and clients.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including WSP's standard contract templates.
  • Review public and private RFPs, assisting the business line in preparing competitive service offers.
  • Assess the risk profile of business opportunities and present findings to internal risk committees for bid approval.
  • Ensure all business decisions comply with WSP's internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the Claims & Litigation Team to evaluate and advise on contractual disputes or claims.
  • Support WSP's compliance with federal and provincial laws and regulations.
  • Provide ongoing legal advice and support for day-to-day business activities.
  • Contribute to any other legal tasks as needed to support the department.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Member of the Quebec bar, with 1-5 years of experience.
  • Fully bilingual (French and English, both verbal and written) with the ability to engage with international clients and contribute to national initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for upper management and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements; experience in construction and engineering is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of business principles and risk management strategies.
  • Industry knowledge is a plus, including familiarity with WSP's business lines, experience in construction/engineering, joint ventures, public-private partnerships, and large projects (such as design-build, collaborative agreements, and strategic projects).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple urgent projects simultaneously.
  • Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team and interact with various stakeholders.
  • Strong autonomy, initiative, and excellent time-management skills.
