Position Summary

Under the direction of the Lead Technologist, Clinical Laboratory-GoHealth BC, or the Departmental Lead, the Medical Laboratory Technologist, GoHealth BC obtains and prepares specimens for routine analysis. It includes performing various routine procedures across laboratory disciplines, focusing on Biochemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Accessioning, in accordance with departmental procedures and the standards of professional practice and code of ethics outlined by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). The Medical Laboratory Technologist is required to travel to various GoHealth BC locations as part of their responsibilities.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, 08:00 to 12:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 08:00 to 20:00, rotating.
This position uses a self-scheduling model. Position to work in various rural sites, not specific to any one community setting or acute location with paid travel times of 4, 8 or 12 hours.

This is a travel position. Hours of work will vary depending on site and days of work will vary due to self scheduling.

GoHealth BC currently provides focused support to the following communities:
Prince George and Fort St. John but expanding to other British Columbia communities soon.

Travel and accommodation
• The GoHealth BC provides all your flights, car rental or NH fleet vehicles, ferries, or a mileage equivalency.
• A $72.00 per day meal per diem is provided.
• All accommodation is provided, typically with a kitchenette.
• Family members (spouses, children) may be able to accompany GoHealth BC employees to some locations determined on a case-by-case basis. Expenses of family member are not covered by GoHealth BC

Qualfications
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Science program and current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS), and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS.
• Two (2) years recent related experience.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, laboratory, and hospital personnel/medical staff.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to operate and maintain related equipment, including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
