Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Senior Accountant will have a multifaceted role within the Air Miles Corporate accounting team. This role will involve managing general accounting functions while also supporting the Accounts Receivable processes and Partner Contracts management. A key responsibility will be supporting the month-end close process, specifically in relation to departmental operating expenses, Partner non-core revenues, cash and investment income related transactions.

You will be responsible for leading the monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) and customer billing function for the Air Miles Program Partners and be accountable for the Air Miles Partner contract administration. You will act as the key contact for Air Miles Partner billing inquiries, including both external and internal inquiries. You will also be responsible for all Air Miles Treasury and Cash Management functions and accounting.

Responsibilities:

Month End Process
  • Work closely with our FP&A team to gather, validate and ensure the accurate and timely reporting of department operating expenses
  • Support the non-core revenue process ensuring the accurate reporting of revenue accruals and related support
  • Ensure proper recording of prepaid expenses and allocations ensuring expenses are recognized in the correct period
  • Ensure all cash management functions and transactions are accurate and completed timely, such investment income, cash transactions, investment securities reporting
  • Prepare, review, and record journal entries ensuring proper supporting documentation substantiation for all transactions
  • Investigate and resolve any accounting discrepancies
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly income statement and balance sheet variance analysis
  • Prepare and manage Balance Sheet reconciliations ensuring adequate support for all accounts
  • Support quarter end reporting deliverables
  • Ensure that internal SOX controls and Air Miles' policies and processes are compliant and adhered to as required.
Air Miles Billings and Accounts Receivables Management
  • Lead the Accounts Receivable Air Miles Collection process by managing and monitoring aging reports and providing guidance to team on collection issues, escalating overdue accounts and meeting with Senior Manager to provide monthly collection updates.
  • Review and comprehend executed Air Miles Partner contracts and ensure financial terms are accurately entered into the billing system. Maintain partner billing system and ensure accuracy of all financial terms.
  • Act as the main liaison for Partner, Marketing and Client Services billing, and payment inquiries. Lead the monthly AMRP billing process ensuring partner invoices are accurately prepared and distributed on a monthly basis.
  • Review and approve the release of marketing invoices
Treasury / Cash Management
  • Review and record monthly accounting journal entries for the Air Miles Reserve Investment Securities. Journal entries include: accrued interest, mark to market, and investment income.
  • Support the Treasury process and Cash Management Process, including bank entries, wire transfers, bank reconciliations and general bank management
  • Prepare, manage, and present the weekly restricted cash flow and operating cash flow
  • Prepare weekly Air Miles funding calculations for the Redemption Reserve
  • Prepare the monthly and quarterly VOS Securities Reporting for securities within the Air Miles Reserve
  • Support the quarterly securities note disclosure by preparing investment income analysis and variance explanations

Qualifications:
  • Post secondary Certificate/Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • CPA designation (or enrolled in program) is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in general accounting
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once
Salary :

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

The above represents AIR MILES' pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents AIR MILES' expected target for the first year in this position.

AIR MILES' total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
