Risk Modelling Services offer Life & Health, Property & Casualty and Pension actuarial consulting services. Our clients include insurance companies, reinsurance companies, government agencies, companies offering loyalty programs and companies with pension and benefits\t plans. Our consulting projects include pension and insurance actuarial liability valuation, Appointed Actuary support work, DCAT, valuation systems conversion, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, product development, loyalty program designs and liability measurement, business/financial analysis work, ORSA review and implementation, credit and market risk quantification modeling, data analytics, predictive modelling and audit support. We work on a variety of cross-functional projects with other services within PwC including Advisory, Deals, Assurance, and Tax. Meaningful work you'll be part of
As a pension actuarial manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
• Support our Senior Manager and Director to work with the advisory group to bring PwC's cross functional capabilities to our clients and offer a comprehensive service solution
• W orking closely with an d provide coaching to actuarial team members on actuarial funding and accounting valuation work, pension administration, support on complex pension transactions and a variety of other consulting opportunities
• Provide a ctuarial pension specialist support to the audit teams working on corporate financial statements and pension plan financial statements , including analysis and review of accounting valuation methodologies and assumptions , financial statement disclosures relating to pension and non-pension benefits , complex accounting events , funding valuation reports and experience studies
• Provide actuarial pension and due diligence support on pension and post-retirement benefits plans to our advisory group working on deals (mergers and acquisitions)
• Perform and support the review of pension plan valuations for funding and accounting purposes
• Support the needs of our clients in respect of administration of their pension and benefits plans
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• 5 + years of actuarial experience ( preferably in pension and benefits )
• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, applied statistics , mathematics or related quantitative disciplines
• Actively pursuing or completed Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designation
• Experience with ProVal or other actuarial programs is preferred
• Knowledge of actuarial standards of practice, pension legislation , provincial funding rules and Income Tax Act requirements in respect of registered pension plans
• Knowledge of accounting standards (e.g. IAS 19, US GAAP, ASPE, PSAS)
• Ability to explain complex technical subjects to non- actuarial audience
• Strong problem solving skills to develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions
• Strong work and business ethics , committed to client service and quality
• When applying to a Quebec based opportunity, fluency in French is required . Outside of Quebec, fluency in French is an asset
