Tax Law Assistant (Bilingual FR/ENG)

A career within Legal Services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients adopt a more strategic approach to global entity governance across their organisations. We help our clients and their legal entities with the incorporation of new companies, on going compliance with local legislation, and restructuring of their global businesses to manage governance and compliance risks.Our team specialises in providing legal advice across all of our clients disciplines. You'll help provide legal support to a wide array of specialty areas from cyber security and technology to banking and intellectual property.

Meaningful work you'll be part of
As an Assistant in our Tax Law team, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Calendar management - monitor and/or manage assigned Partners' and Directors' Google calendar. This includes responsibility for: arranging internal and external meetings, responding to changing priorities; the coordination of meeting logistics and the preparation of supporting material
• E-mail management - monitor and/or manage email on behalf of assigned lawyers as requested . This includes responsibility for reviewing, sorting and prioritizing incoming e-mail; taking action or responding to requests on behalf of the lawyer
• Work process management - review of upcoming deadlines and work requirements with the lawyers; manage the flow of work to the lawyers (such as documents for review/signature)
• Document Production - typing, formatting, and editing documents, draft standard and non-standard correspondence, spreadsheets and presentations using the MS Office, or proprietary software as required , while adhering to branding standards
• Book travel as per the firm policies using approved travel provider
• Prepare and submit expense reports (Concur)
• Organize logistics and material for internal/external events, or training sessions on behalf of the lawyers
• Organize and code invoices for payment as directed by lawyers and law clerks
• Preparing billing request forms and following-up with client for payment
• Other administrative duties that will enhance the effectiveness of assigned lawyers (e.g., business development activities, boards/committees, firm activities, etc.)
• Supporting partners with leadership activities and initiatives (business strategy, leadership priorities), which involves connecting and coordinating with other business units, lines of services leaders and team

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• Strong technical skills using MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Google would be considered an asset
• Strong client service focus in dealing with both external and internal clients, displaying an image of professionalism, discretion, integrity and tact
• Excellent judgment and strong problem solving skills, including a proactive approach to working with staff and clients at all levels while demonstrating flexibility
• Effective listening skills; excellent oral and written communication
• Must have strong organizational skills, meticulous follow-up and follow-through, good judgment and ability to prioritize and pay attention to detail
• Ability to adapt, handle several files at the same time, deal with tight deadlines and demonstrate flexibility at work
• Capacity to work independently, willingness to learn, solution-oriented approach, attention to detail
• Commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives
• Relevant experience as a Legal Assistant would be considered an asset
• Excellent written communication skills are essential, including the ability to relate to people at all levels
• The successful candidate requires fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during the course of their employment with PwC Canada
