The Asset Management and Logistics team, which sits in the Project Delivery Excellence (PDE) function within WSP Canada, is seeking a Director of Asset Management. The role will consist of overseeing the strategic and operational management of the company's tangible vehicle and equipment assets. To achieve this, the Director will lead a team responsible for the effective acquisition, maintenance, and disposition of assets and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safety, regulatory compliance and quality while maximizing utilization and cost recovery. throughout the asset lifecycle. What you can expect to do here:
System set-up and Operationalizing New Asset Management Solution
- Act as and lead a team of subject matter experts in the implementation of a newly selected asset management solution
- Ensure Assets are fit for use and meet regulatory and safety requirements
- Implement monitoring a reporting systems and processes to track asset performance and utilization metrics.
- Monitor and analyze asset utilization data to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure optimal deployment of assets.
- Ensure expertise in the new equipment tool, Asset Infinity System.
- Integration of asset management data to optimize utilization and cross platform functionality (eg: GeoTab)
Recovery and Utilization
- Develop and manage asset recovery and deployment strategies to maximize cost recovery from underutilized or obsolete assets.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to asset management.
- Work closely with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate asset valuation and depreciation.
- In Partnership with Procurement, identify economies of scale opportunities by optimizing common standards and specifications and strategically managing lifecycles aligned with budget constraints.
- Establish total cost of ownership cost recovery rates.
- Manage the disposition of surplus or obsolete assets, including sales, transfers, and disposal, to optimize financial returns and reduce total cost of ownership.
Compliance and standards
- Develop and oversee maintenance programs to ensure the reliability, safety, and longevity of assets.
- Implement lifecycle management practices to extend asset life and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Develop and implement comprehensive asset management strategies to maximize utilization and lifecycle value of vehicle and equipment assets.
- Create and maintain asset management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with the HSEQ team for the management of the nuclear program.
Training
- In partnership with HSEQ and Risk Management, ensure Total Safety Program training and compliance requirements are met Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies related to asset management.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with asset management activities, including financial, operational, and safety risks.
Leadership and Innovation
- Lead and mentor a team of asset management professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, procurement, and IT, to support asset management initiatives.
- Leverage technology and innovation to enhance asset management processes, including the implementation of asset management software and data analytics tools.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve asset management strategies and operations.
- Lead the deployment and implementation of a newly acquired national Asset Management solution
- Establish standard policies and operational guidelines for solution implementation.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and financial management skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in asset management software and data analytics tools.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to asset management.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Bilingual a must.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPAM, MIRM) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in asset management, focusing on tangible vehicle and equipment assets. IAM, PEMAC or equivalent asset management certification an asset
- Demonstrated Experience in leading asset management system implementation.
